Mary C. Earle

Mary C. Earle is an Episcopal priest, writer and spiritual director, who teaches classes in spirituality, both on campus and on-line, for the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest in Austin. A resident of San Antonio, Mary is also the Author-in-Residence at The Work+Shop, a ministry of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. Her most recently published book, The Desert Mothers: Spiritual Practices from the Women of the Wilderness, is also available as an audio CD. She has also authored Beginning Again: Benedictine Wisdom for Living with Illness and Broken Body, Healing Spirit: Lectio Divina and Living with Illness. With Sylvia Maddox, Mary co-authored Holy Companions: Spiritual Practices from the Celtic Saints. Mary’s work has also been anthologized and published in a variety of journals, newsletters and websites. With Covita Moroney of the San Antonio Vocal Arts Ensemble, Mary created Sofia’s Table, a CD of poems and songs celebrating the divine feminine. Recently Mary and her colleague at The Work+Shop, the Rev. Jane Patterson, collaborated on a CD entitled Telling the Brothers: Perspectives on Mary Magdalene.
Mary has offered presentations in a variety of ecumenical settings, including conferences of Spiritual Directors International, the International Thomas Merton Society and hospice organizations. In 2003 she received the Durstan R McDonald Award for Excellence in Teaching from the Seminary of the Southwest.
