Location
- The Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, Texas, is
one of only two Episcopal seminaries west of the Mississippi River.
Purpose
- The church is called to mission in a culturally diverse world.
The Seminary of the Southwest prepares lay and ordained leaders
to invite and enable all people to follow Jesus Christ as Lord
and to live into the baptismal covenant. We provide the church
with theologically perceptive and faithful leaders.
Enrollment
- 109 students enrolled in the fall semester of the 2006-07 academic
year in September. Two out of three M.Div. students come from
outside Province VII. Thirty-eight Episcopal dioceses are represented
in student enrollment. Dioceses range from Olympia, Northern California
and Montana, to Virginia, Atlanta and Southeast Florida.
Requirements
for Admission - An undergraduate degree is generally required for admission to a degree program,
although exceptions can be granted in extraordinary cases.

In addition to completing
the form, submit official transcripts of all college, graduate,
and professional
courses, a spiritual autobiography, letters of recommendation,
and scores of the Graduate Record Exam or the Miller Analogies
Test. The GRE requirement is waived if you hold a doctorate or
master's degree. A personal interview with the Admissions Committee
is also required.
Tuition
- $13,150 per academic year or $548 per credit hour (whichever
is lower) for the 2007-08 academic year. Tuition for M.A.P.M.
and M.A.C. students is $390 per semester hour. Additional fees
are listed in the Catalog.
Financial
Aid - Form for applying is included in the application
packet. Currently, most full-time M.Div. degree students receive
a grant of up to $10,500 per academic year. In addition, work
study grants are available for full-time students. Financial aid
is awarded on the basis of need. Official policies. The Seminary of the Southwest's commitment to low student debt.
Student
Housing - Efficiency apartments for single students
are $425 per month plus electricity. Limited number of two, three
and four bedroom houses for married students are up to $1,130
per month. Apply early.

the Campus - The Admissions Office will be pleased
to make arrangements for prospective students to stay on campus
and attend classes, talk with students and faculty and answer
