Sometime in the process, the system will ask you for a user I.D. and password. Students, faculty and staff of ETSS and LSPS may get these from the library staff.

Then, sign on to www.etss.edu
Open the Library pull-down menu.
Choose Databases and Resources.
Choose Atlas Indexes and EBSCO Databases.
Choose Religion and Philosophy Database

Don’t start your search yet.

From the options in this message below, Choose (A) or (B).

(A) If you don’t need a scripture search, simply input your search keys (author, title, or subject).

(B) If you want to do a scripture search (instead of a subject, author, or title search),
Choose Databases, then double-click on the name, “ATLA Religion Database with ATLASerials.”

In the green band, select the link to “Scriptures.”

In the “Browse For:” box, input the scripture citation (for example: Matthew 25:31).

From the list of citations which appears, choose the ones you want to see and checkmark each.

Click the “Add” button, then click “Search.”

After you pull up a list of articles and essays, some of them will likely have a link to the full text in electronic format.

Sometimes that text is in PDF format, which means, it’s a photo of the journal page. It also means that, to open it, you need on your computer Adobe Acrobat software. You can get Adobe Reader software free from the library web page. (LUSTRE / Web Tools). When working in full text in Acrobat format, you cannot cut and paste from the text. You can print the whole text, but you can’t edit within the text.

Sometimes, instead of a PDF file, you get a real text page, where you can treat it like any word processing file, marking any part of it for copying out and pasting into your own documents.

Happy searching.
