In
today’s technological age information has become
readily available in more formats than ever before. The
Internet, and the databases that drive many of them, have
made it possible for us to share information with one
another all over the world. Unlike paper, these digital
forms are accessible to many different users at same time.
|
| |
On
these pages you will find a selection of e-journals
that allow access to their content in full text. E-journals
are serial publications in some type of digital format.
The formats found on these pages are primarily PDF or
HTML. Some are only available in electronic formats while
others are also available in print. Many of these are
available based on subscription, others are offered completely
free, while still others are open
access journals. Open access journals are both free
of charge and free of copyright restrictions. Those journals
that are not open access require that you follow the copyright
guidelines pertaining to “fair
use”.

These
e-journals have been provided on these pages for several
reasons: availability, searchability, ease of use, easy
access, enjoyment, research, and for whatever reasons
you go to print serials. You will find news, popular articles,
social issues, diocesan information, happenings in the
church, spirituality, theology, and many other topics.
For your convenience these pages have been categorized
into the following sections:

Popular
Titles – are publications of a news,
social, or popular nature that are constantly in flux.
These serials, particularly the ones that come on a daily
basis, are very expensive in print form. Due to their
nature, these are not usually kept for any length of time.
Fortunately, they have become readily available in electronic
form.

Catalogued
E-journals – here you will find journals
that we have or had subscriptions to at one point in time.
These are all catalogued and can be found in our online
catalog. Most are also available to some extent in print
form here in the Library.

| |
E-journal
List – consist of serials to which
we do not subscribe. Many of these are publications of
other seminaries or universities. They come to us either
as free or open access journals.
|
|
| |
Diocesan
Newsletters – provide articles of interest
and news concerning individual diocese across the nation.
Many times there are also articles that address particular
issues in the church, family and community, as well as
living a Christian life in today’s society.

|
| |
Tutorials
– here you will find tutorials on how to use the
electronic databases to which we subscribe. Follow the
easy-to-use instructions in order to find out many of
the answers to your how-to-do-it questions. Just remember,
a librarian is a great source of information should you
not find what you want to know.
