BIBLE STUDY RESOURCES
Bible Basics -- Provides auditory pronunciation of Bible names. At the very bottom of each screen, choose the first letter of the word you want, then choose that word from the list provided. If you have speakers or headphones, you can hear the word pronounced. Don't rely on the other Biblical information offered without checking it in reliable sources; these people have an attitude and sometimes state as fact what is only opinion. The site does allow you to listen to a reading of the Bible texts from a number of versions (not including the NRSV or the RSV). Ancient Bible Manuscripts Online -- The Religion and Technology Center at Emory University provides this collection of free online digitized versions of early Bible manuscripts. Bible Gateway -- Allows a search of a number of versions of the Bible including many languages. The English versions lack NRSV and RSV. The Greek versions are not the best either, and no Hebrew is offered.
Interlinear Greek/English New Testament -- This uses an 1894 version of the Greek text, obviously a ploy to avoid copyright. If you use it, be sure to compare the Greek with an up-to-date version. NRSV Browsable Text -- An NRSV text site, maintained by Professor Barry Bandstra at Hope College, provides a freely browsable version. NRSV Study Tools -- Allows a concordance search of the NRSV (and many other versions, including interlinear Greek/English or Hebrew/English), with full verses as context of report. A little clunky to feel your way into, but provides some powerful tools for Bible study.
Seminar Papers - This annual publication from the Society of Biblical Literature is available online beginning with the 2002 conference. Paper copies were published till 2003, but that was the last paper edition.
New Testament Gateway - An award winning web directory of internet resources on the New Testament. Browse or search annotated links on everything from the Greek New Testament to Jesus in Film. Maintained by Dr. Mark Goodacre. Wabash Center Reference Resources - Find here links to Biblical Timelines, Biblical Encyclopedias, Biblical Languages, Biblical Maps and Biblical Statistics. Old Testament Gateway - An annotated, academic directory of internet sites on the Old Testament. This is complementary to the New Testament Gateway site, but is not produced by Dr. Mark Goodacre.
Bible search -- Allows you to search the Bible for any word, phrase or combination of words. Translations available include RSV (along with some less current versions) but not NRSV. Also available, Greek, Hebrew and Spanish texts. Greek and Hebrew origins of English words in the RSV may be obtained by use of Whittaker’s Concordance in the Reference Collection. Greek Bible texts -- The text of the Greek New Testament and Septuagint may be viewed here. You may have to download a font (using a link on these pages) to see the text with all the accents. Bible search, ECanon -- Allows a search of four versions (KJV, RSV, NRSV and in unaccented Greek, Westcott and Hort)
