Apologetics today -- The Christian Apologetics & Research Ministry is an online resource which aims to provide Christians with information on doctrines, religious groups and religious subjects. The organization attributes contradictory interpretations of the Bible to our sinful nature and considers evolution to remain an open question.

Art and Architecture, Religious
Peter Mansbendel Carvings -- In the Charles Black Room, Harold H. and Patricia M. Booher Library of the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest. Choose Episcopal Seminary from the list of links on the right.
Art by Episcopalians - The Episcopal Church and Visual Arts, a continually renewed online gallery of fine art, offers digital images. Viewers may simply meditate on the pieces, participate in conversations by joining a listserv, e-mail the artists, or submit digital images of their own work for the next show. Take a look.
Corsair - Over 4,000 illustrations, posted online by Pierpont Morgan Library, with cooperation from Princeton University’s Index of Christian Art. Searching is based on Library of Congress subject headings. Try a search on “Annunciation”, limited to “Medieval Images Only”. Open a record and go to the “Links” field, and, within that, “Detail of miniature”. “All images provided through CORSAIR are copyrighted by The Pierpont Morgan Library. They are for personal, educational, noncommercial use only. For example, images may be printed out for study, or used for classroom presentations”

Scan down a long way till you come to “All of the above files, ZIP compressed.”
Choose the MSWord format
Choose Save
A window opens which asks where to save it.
Navigate to your desktop and give the file a name (BCP would do).
Leave the file type as WinZip.
Choose Save
After the downloading, Choose Close.
Then leave the web and you will find an icon for your file on your desktop.
Double click the icon,
Choose I agree
and you should be able to open the file and search it in Word file which may be searched.
When you first open it, if the pages are too small to read,
Choose View from the menu at the top.
Then choose Normal.
Under the Edit menu at the top,
Choose Find

Churches --  An American Bible Society listing offering four pages of space for details about any congregation. You first have to make application to be the editor of the page for your church, then fill in the blanks. You can look up details about listed churches in your area.

Congregational Resource Guide - Jointly sponsored by the Alban Institute and the Indianapolis Center for Congregations, this page offers resources on many of the problems which congregations encounter.

The Disseminary -- This web site is attempting to provide the information one might receive from an accredited seminary, but free online for anyone who doesn’t want the degrees. In an early stage of development, the offerings are not yet ample but growing. Teaching Theology and Religion  -- Best overall site for getting information on the teaching of all seminary subjects. Contains course syllabi and many other hotlinks of value in this area. After you get to the homepage, choose Internet Guide.

Interchurch Center - This 19-story building in NYC houses organizations of a variety of faiths as well as ecumenical groups, including the World Council of Churches and the National Council of Churches of Christ in the USA. Most valuable will be the finding guides, especially on ecumenism, created by Ernest Rubinstein at the Center's library (choose Resources, then Library Special Collections).

Luther concordance -- Find any word or combination of words in some of Luther’s most important works, nine works in March, 2000, and more being added. From this site return to the home page  and find concordances to some 500 other books, including some other religious works.

Missiology
Dissertions on Mission after 1900 - Searchable by keyward, this database identifies much of the scholarship concerning missions. This is a project of the Yale Divinity School Library in collaboration with the International Bulletin of Missionary Research. Christian music (popular recordings) -- Weekly listing of the top 50 Christian music songs

Music Hymns and Psalmody  -- Thousands of hymns with lyrics and scores. With speakers and a sound card you can hear a simple organ rendition of them. Downloading scores may require special software.
Lutheran Hymns Online - Links to many pages.
Oremus Hymnal -- An online hymnal which contains texts and MIDI files of tunes used in much of the English-speaking world, with particular emphasis on the Anglican tradition. Currently, seventeen Anglican hymnals have been indexed. All texts are from the public domain, (in 2001, this means they were written before 1923). Sacred Harp Singing -- Look at this site to find the schedule for singing in Austin. Also called shaped-note singing and several other names, this unique deep south hymn style expresses itself in regional and national singing conventions and helps participants learn to read music for singing. In Austin, singings are held regularly and visitors are welcome.

The Revealer - A daily review of religion and the press. Provides links to published articles available online: “not so much nonpartisan as polypartisan -- interested in all sides, disdainful of dualistic arguments, and enamored of free speech as a first principle. We publish and link to work by people of all persuasions, religious, political, sexual, and critical.”
Wabash Center - Choose “Newspapers” to find many sources, including news services for particular denominations.

Episcopalians for Global Reconciliation Pacifism, Christian -- Daniel H. Shubin has posted his study of Christian pacifism (including both Biblical backgrounds and tradition).

Philosophy, Online Encyclopedia -- Three main sections: A timeline for western philosophy with hotkeys for most names; a collection of philosophical full texts, also with hotlinks to philosophers; and a list of keywords hotlinked to articles about them.

Prayer Book Society Prayer, Centering -- The web site for materials from and about Father Thomas Keating and his prayer counseling.

Prayers, Spanish language, Book of Common Prayer -- Provided online by the Mission of St. Clare in Santa Clara, California. Spanish language texts for morning and evening prayers, each day of the year, from the Book of Common Prayer.

Prayer, Daily -- Texts for morning and evening prayers, each day of the year, from the Book of Common Prayer. Prayer, Daily -- Daily prayers from oremus.org, along with links to other prayer resources on the net.

Prayer, Daily. Another site, this one prepared by Irish Jesuits. Powerfully tasteful, this one offers an extraordinary range of ways to pray each day using always-refreshed online ideas.

Progressive Christianity - The Center for Progressive Christianity publishes books and curricula for Christians who are faithful to Jesus but have doubts about the church or some of its doctrines.

Project Wittenburg -- Finished, polished Lutheran texts.

Public Life and Religion -- The Leonard E. Greenberg Center for the Study of Religion in Public Life. Housed by Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut, the Greenberg Center provides at this website an online free periodical with full-text articles: Religion in the News.

Public Opinion on Religion -- Barna Religious Research. Continually polls the public on questions of religious significance, and reports the results online. "Born-again" language and point-of-view does not prevent these polls from being interesting and useful. 

Re: Jesus - a presentation, in video/audio format and interactive discussions of ideas about Jesus.

Recursos teológicos en la red (Theological Resources in the Net) - The College of St. Benedict (for women) and St. John's University (for men) in Minnesota have posted an outstanding collection of web links to Spanish language resources on theological subjects.

Retreat Centers
Lebh Shomea is a Christian contemplative eremitical House of Prayer in a South Texas desert setting open to all seekers. In the past seminarians have sometimes done retreats here, and at least one has done an independent study, journaling her contemplative experience.
Boerne Benedictines --
A retreat center of the Congregation of Benedictine Sisters in Boerne, Texas, west of San Marcos.

The Crossings -- A workshop and retreat center just outside Austin. Owned by a former computer sales person from Dell, this center largely serves businesses and is on the high end of the cost scale, but spiritual retreats and workshops are sometimes offered.

Sacred Sites -- Martin Gray, an anthropologist and photographer, has posted to this site pictures and descriptions of sacred sites he has visited all over the world.

Sermons for the Lectionary -- From the Episcopal Church Worship-that-Works service, these sermons keyed to the church year appear online well in advance of the scheduled reading.

Spiritual Formation -- The Division of Spirtual Formation, a partnership of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas and the TX/LA Gulf Coast Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America

Spiritual Resources -- Personal web page of an ETSS adjunct faculty member, the Rev. Mary C. Earle. The page includes descriptions of books, CDs, workshops and retreats she offers.

Spirituality and Health -- Seton Cove -- 3708 Crawford St., Austin, TX (512) 451-0272. The Seton Cove is an interfaith center for spiritual formation and renewal, with a focus on spirituality in the workplace. Inspired by the life and teachings of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, this center provides a welcoming place of solace and hospitality where people of any faith may nourish and foster their spiritual growth and discover a new relationship with themselves, community, God and all creation. The Seton Cove programs are designed to act as an extension of activities provided by individual churches throughout Austin. Through a variety of programs, the Cove seeks to reach out to the people of Central Texas and offer a renewed sense of spirit and healing. Programs include:

Statistics on religions and churches - As always with information from the internet or the web, be sure you know the source of the information before you use it. This site contains a great deal of good information about an enormous number of religious groups, but it necessarily relies on reports from many different sources.

Summa Theologica of Aquinas -- Provides online the Benziger 1947 text, organized for easy access to subjects.

Teaching Theology and Religion  -- See Education on Religion and Theology.

Tertullian -- Roger Pearse collects here texts and other information about this particular father of the Latin church. The site grows continually. 

Theologians, Christian -- A list of links to pages by and about Christian theologians.
